PUBLIC NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION RELATED PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois hereby requests qualifications from professional services consultants to provide professional services in connection with the following project:
Project Name: Aerodynamics Research Lab Addition
Description of Project: THE AEROSPACE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT PROPOSES A 4,200 GSF ADDITION TO AERODYNAMICS RESEARCH LAB (NO. 1093). THE NEW ADDITION WILL BE DESIGNED AS AN EXTENSION OF THE EXISTING BUILDING EAST INTO THE FORMER LOCATION OF THE ATMOSPHERIC RESEARCH ANNEX (NO. 107), WHICH WAS DEMOLISHED THROUGH AN AGREEMENT WITH FACILITIES & SERVICES. THE COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING OBTAINED ASSIGNMENT OF THE GROUNDS BY FUNDING THE DEMOLITION OF THE FORMER BUILDING. THE NEW ADDITION WILL BE COMPATIBLE AND CONTEXTUAL WITH THE DESIGN OF THE EXISTING STRUCTURE.

Note: The project will be administered using the Owner's web-based project management system. PRZM was developed to maximaize the potential of the Internet in allowing project team members to access and exchange project information. PRZM supports team colllaboration in management and interaction, as well as a team member empowerment on a multi-layer security system.

Minimum user requirements are as follows:

  • Internet Browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 or higher is recommended.
  • E-mail: PRZM requires the user to have a valid e-mail account.
  • Computer-Aided Drawing (CAD) viewer.

Only those firms which meet the following qualifications will be considered for selection:

  • Licensed to practice as an (Architect, Engineer, or Landscape Architect) in the State of Illinois.
  • Prequalified with the State of Illinois Capital Development Board.
  • Registered and authorized to do business in the State of Illinois.
  • Utilization of AutoCAD compatible System.

The following project-related criteria will be used to evaluate the firms requesting consideration for selection:
  • Current commitments of firm, proposed staff and consultants.
  • Prior experience of the proposed project staff in the design and construction of similar projects; engineering research laboratories.
  • Overall design quality of the relevant projects submitted.
  • MAFBE participation of Professional Service Consultant and sub-consultants with a goal of 20%. Illinois Department of Central Management Services (CMS) Business Enterprise Program certification is the basis for determination of MAFBE status.
  • Prior experience with projects of similar scope and magnitude at the university level.
  • Successful experience gaining consensus while engaging a multitude of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience with remodeling and renovation projects in existing operational facilities.
  • Expertise and success in constructon cost estimating and scheduling phased construction projects.
