PUBLIC NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION RELATED PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois hereby requests qualifications from professional services consultants to provide professional services in connection with the following project:
Project Name: Chemistry Annex - Addition and Renovation
Description of Project: A COMPLETE RENOVATION OF THE EXISTING 42,466 S.F. CHEMISTRY ANNEX FACILITY AND CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW 9,600 S.F. ADDITION TO THE BUILDING ON THE SOUTHEAST CORNER ALONG MATHEWS AVENUE. THE $22.9 MILLION PROPOSED ADDITION AND RENOVATION WILL PROVIDE A TOTAL OF 52,000 GROSS SQUARE FEET OF STATE OF THE ART LABORATORY AND INSTRUCTION SPACE. THE ADDITION WILL ADDRESS LIFE SAFETY AND ACCESSIBILITY AS WELL AS PROVIDE MORE EFFICIENT CIRCULATION PATTERNS.

Note: The project will be administered using the Owner's web-based project management system. PRZM was developed to maximaize the potential of the Internet in allowing project team members to access and exchange project information. PRZM supports team colllaboration in management and interaction, as well as a team member empowerment on a multi-layer security system.

Minimum user requirements are as follows:

  • Internet Browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 or higher is recommended.
  • E-mail: PRZM requires the user to have a valid e-mail account.
  • Computer-Aided Drawing (CAD) viewer.

Only those firms which meet the following qualifications will be considered for selection:

  • Licensed to practice as an (Architect, Engineer, or Landscape Architect) in the State of Illinois.
  • Prequalified with the State of Illinois Capital Development Board.
  • Registered and authorized to do business in the State of Illinois.
  • Utilization of AutoCAD compatible System.

The following project-related criteria will be used to evaluate the firms requesting consideration for selection:
  • Current commitments of firm, proposed staff and consultants.
  • Prior experience of the proposed project staff in the design and construction of similar projects.
  • Overall design quality of the relevant projects submitted.
  • MAFBE participation of Professional Service Consultant and sub-consultants with a goal of 20%. Illinois Department of Central Management Services (CMS) Business Enterprise Program certification is the basis for determination of MAFBE status.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide hazardous materials assessment and remediation.
  • Prior experience with projects that involve historically significant structures and sites.
  • Expertise and success in scheduling renovation projects.
  • Expertise and success in scheduling renovation projects.
  • Expertise and success in the design of projects including elevators of similar scope.
  • Expertise and success in the design of state of the art instructional laboratories, including audio visual and technology components. Audio-Visual designer shall possess a current and valid CT-D Certification with InfoComm International that is in good standing
