PUBLIC NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION RELATED PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois hereby requests qualifications from professional services consultants to provide professional services in connection with the following project:
Project Name: Engineering Sciences Building - Exterior Repairs to Roofs and Windows
Description of Project: DEFERRED MAINTENANCE FUNDS WILL NOW BE USED FOR THIS EXTERIOR REPAIRS - ROOFS AND WINDOWS PROJECT CONSISTING OF REPLACING THE LOWER ROOFS KNOWN AS F, G, H, I, J, AND M. TOTALING APPROXIMATELY 15,650 S.F. AND ALL OF THE 189 EXISTING ALUMINUM WINDOW SYSTEMS IN THE FOUR INTERCONNECTED BUILDINGS WITH ENERGY EFFICIENT THERMALLY BROKEN ALUMINUM FRAMES AND SASHES WITH THERMALLY SEALED DOUBLE PANE INSULATED GLAZING. AT THE SAME TIME THE MASONRY WILL BE REPAIRED AND RE-POINTED, INSTALLING EXPANSION JOINTS AS REQUIRED. THE COMPLETION OF THIS PROJECT WILL EXTEND THE LIFE OF THIS BUILDING AN ADDITIONAL FIFTY YEARS AND WILL REDUCE UTILITIES COSTS.

Note: The project will be administered using the Owner's web-based project management system. PRZM was developed to maximaize the potential of the Internet in allowing project team members to access and exchange project information. PRZM supports team colllaboration in management and interaction, as well as a team member empowerment on a multi-layer security system.

Minimum user requirements are as follows:

  • Internet Browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 or higher is recommended.
  • E-mail: PRZM requires the user to have a valid e-mail account.
  • Computer-Aided Drawing (CAD) viewer.

Only those firms which meet the following qualifications will be considered for selection:

  • Licensed to practice as an (Architect, Engineer, or Landscape Architect) in the State of Illinois.
  • Prequalified with the State of Illinois Capital Development Board.
  • Registered and authorized to do business in the State of Illinois.
  • Utilization of AutoCAD compatible System.

The following project-related criteria will be used to evaluate the firms requesting consideration for selection:
  • Current commitments of firm, proposed staff and consultants.
  • Prior experience of the proposed project staff in the design and construction of similar projects.
  • Overall design quality of the relevant projects submitted.
  • MAFBE participation of Professional Service Consultant and sub-consultants. Illinois Department of Central Management Services (CMS) Business Enterprise Program certification is the basis for determination of MAFBE status.
  • At least five years of demonstrated experience of roofing, masonry repairs, and window replacement experience.

The Professional Services Consultant selection will be consistent with the Architectual, Engineering, and Land Surveying Qualifications Based Selection Act (30 ILCS 535/1).
