PUBLIC NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION RELATED PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois hereby requests qualifications from professional services consultants to provide professional services in connection with the following project:
Project Name: Ikenberry Commons Phase C & D - Residence Hall West and Garner Hall Demolition
Description of Project: WITH PHASE A OF THE CHAMPAIGN CAMPUS DINING AND RESIDENCE PROJECT (THE CONSTRUCTION OF SDRP AND THE RESIDENCE HALL NORTH) UNDERWAY AND PHASE B (THE DEMOLITION OF THE CURRENT DINING FACILITIES) PLANNED FOR THE SUMMER OF 2010, UNIVERSITY HOUSING WOULD LIKE TO BEGIN PHASE C AND D (CONSTRUCTION OF RESIDENCE HALL WEST AND THE DEMOLITION OF GARNER HALL, RESPECTIVELY). THE DESIGN OF THE NEW RESIDENCE HALL WEST WOULD BE CONSISTENT WITH THE DESIGN DEVELOPMENT OF PHASE A, RESIDENCE HALL NORTH, SET FORTH BY BOOTH HANSEN AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, BE DESIGNED TO LEED SILVER CERTIFICATION. THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE RESIDENCE HALL WEST, APPROXIMATELY 99,000 S.F. OF BUILDING, WILL PROVIDE 300 NEW BEDS. TOGETHER WITH 150 BEDS IN RESIDENTIAL HALL NORTH, THE MAJORITY OF BEDS LOST IN THE DEMOLITION OF GARNER HALL WILL BE ACCOUNTED FOR. ALL SITE RELATED WORK SUCH AS UTILITIES, STORM WATER MANAGEMENT AND LANDSCAPING ARE TO BE INCLUSIVE OF THIS PROJECT. ; THIS IS THE ONGOING EFFORTS OF UNIVERSITY HOUSING TO REPLACE THE "SIX PACK" RESIDENCE HALLS WITHOUT GOING INTO NEGATIVE BED COUNT.

Note: The project will be administered using the Owner's web-based project management system. PRZM was developed to maximaize the potential of the Internet in allowing project team members to access and exchange project information. PRZM supports team colllaboration in management and interaction, as well as a team member empowerment on a multi-layer security system.

Minimum user requirements are as follows:

  • Internet Browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 or higher is recommended.
  • E-mail: PRZM requires the user to have a valid e-mail account.
  • Computer-Aided Drawing (CAD) viewer.

Only those firms which meet the following qualifications will be considered for selection:

  • Licensed to practice as an (Architect, Engineer, or Landscape Architect) in the State of Illinois.
  • Prequalified with the State of Illinois Capital Development Board.
  • Registered and authorized to do business in the State of Illinois.
  • Utilization of AutoCAD compatible System.

The following project-related criteria will be used to evaluate the firms requesting consideration for selection:
  • Current commitments of firm, proposed staff and consultants
  • Prior experience of the proposed project staff in the design and construction of similar projects.
  • Overall design quality of the relevant projects submitted
  • MAFBE participation of Professional Service Consultant and sub-consultants
  • Prior experience in design and construction of Residence Halls with LEED Silver Certification
  • Prior experience in design and construction for people with severe physical disabilities, greater than the ADAAG requirements
  • Prior experience in design and construction of learning, living centers

The Professional Services Consultant selection will be consistent with the Architectual, Engineering, and Land Surveying Qualifications Based Selection Act (30 ILCS 535/1).
