The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois hereby requests qualifications from professional services consultants to provide professional services in connection with the following project:
Project Name: Housing - Sprinkler & Finish Work Upgrades at PAR - Phase II
Description of Project: WITH PAR PHASE I UNDERWAY, UNIVERSITY HOUSING WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE WITH PHASE II OF THE PROJECT INVOLVING LIFE-SAFETY AND FINISH UPGRADES FOR BABCOCK AND SAUNDERS RESIDENCE HALLS. UNIVERSITY HOUSING REQUESTS THAT A PSC BE HIRED TO DESIGN, BID AND ADMINISTER THE NECESSARY UPGRADES REQUIRED FOR THE SCOPE OF THIS PROJECT. ; LIFE-SAFETY WORK INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: ; 1. INSTALL SPRINKLER SYSTEM IN PAR/BABCOCK AND SAUNDERS RESIDENCE HALLS. ; 2. ADD FIRE ALARM DEVICES AS NEEDED IN PAR/BABCOCK AND SAUNDERS RESIDENCE HALLS. ; UPGRADES TO FINISHES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: ; 1. REPLACE FLOORING IN THE CORRIDORS (ABATE THE VAT BY F&S), STAIRWELLS AND LOBBIES IN BABCOCK AND SAUNDERS. ; 2. PAINT ALL STUDENT ROOMS AND CEILINGS. ; 3. PAINT THE CORRIDORS, STAIRWELLS AND LOBBIES IN BABCOCK AND SAUNDERS RESIDENCE HALL FLOORS. ; 4. REPLACE THE STUDENT ROOM DEADBOLTS WITH NEW BEST DEADBOLTS ON ALL BABCOCK AND SAUNDERS RESIDENCE HALL FLOORS.

Note: The project will be administered using the Owner's web-based project management system. PRZM was developed to maximaize the potential of the Internet in allowing project team members to access and exchange project information. PRZM supports team colllaboration in management and interaction, as well as a team member empowerment on a multi-layer security system.

Minimum user requirements are as follows:

  • Internet Browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 or higher is recommended.
  • E-mail: PRZM requires the user to have a valid e-mail account.
  • Computer-Aided Drawing (CAD) viewer.

Only those firms which meet the following qualifications will be considered for selection:

  • Licensed to practice as an (Architect, Engineer, or Landscape Architect) in the State of Illinois.
  • Prequalified with the State of Illinois Capital Development Board.
  • Registered and authorized to do business in the State of Illinois.
  • Utilization of AutoCAD compatible System.

The following project-related criteria will be used to evaluate the firms requesting consideration for selection:
  • Current commitments of firm, proposed staff and consultants
  • Prior experience of the proposed project staff in the design and construction of similar projects.
  • Overall design quality of the relevant projects submitted
  • MAFBE participation of Professional Service Consultant and sub-consultants
  • Licensed to practice as an Architect, Engineer, or Landscape Architect in the State of Illinois
  • Prequalified with the State of Illinois Capital Development Board
  • Registered and authorized to do business in the State of Illinois
  • Registered and authorized to do business in the State of Illinois
  • Utilization of AutoCAD compatible system

The Professional Services Consultant selection will be consistent with the Architectual, Engineering, and Land Surveying Qualifications Based Selection Act (30 ILCS 535/1).
