Description of Project: | Remodel approximately 22,000 s.f. of existing lab and office space on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the Psychiatric Institute into behavioral neurobiology laboratories and support spaces for the Department of Psychiatry.; The Center is composed of the following laboratories, Biobehavioral Testing, Molecular Neurobiology, Genetics and Development, Pharmacology, Neuroimmunology/Neuroanatomy and Histology.; The Research agenda of CARBN is theory-driven, focusing on techniques, methods and applications of neurobiological principles to important aspects of mental health. ; The existing space has not been renovated since the building was constructed in 1959. The scope of work will include a complete gut and remodel of the space including modifications to the existing: plumbing, heating, piping, temperature control, ventilation, electrical, fire alarm, telecommunications and sprinkler systems. In addition, the scope will include installation of new air handling units serving the 2nd and 3rd floors and the installation of a new laboratory exhaust system serving the west wing of the building.; This project is partially funded by a National Institute of Health (NIH) grant. |
