PUBLIC NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION RELATED PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois hereby requests qualifications from professional services consultants to provide professional services in connection with the following project:
Project Name: Newmark Civil Engineering Building - Student Center Addition
Description of Project: THE PROJECT CONSISTS OF A 22,500 GSF THREE STORY ADDITION TO THE NEWMARK LABORATORY BUILDING. THE FACILITY INCLUDES A LECTURE AUDITORIUM, PRE-FUNCTION HALL, CLASSROOMS, AND COMPUTER ROOMS AS WELL AS OFFICES FOR UNDERGRADUATE, GRADUATE AND STUDENT SOCIETIES. THE ADDITION WILL BE ON THE NORTHEAST SIDE OF THE NEWMARK BUILDING WHICH IS CURRENTLY BEING USED AS A STORAGE AREA. A PARTIAL BASEMENT WILL BE PROVIDED TO LINK MECHANICAL SYSTEMS IN THE NEW ADDITION WITH EXISTING LOWER LEVEL MECHANICAL ROOMS.

Note: The project will be administered using the Owner's web-based project management system. PRZM was developed to maximaize the potential of the Internet in allowing project team members to access and exchange project information. PRZM supports team colllaboration in management and interaction, as well as a team member empowerment on a multi-layer security system.

Minimum user requirements are as follows:

  • Internet Browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 or higher is recommended.
  • E-mail: PRZM requires the user to have a valid e-mail account.
  • Computer-Aided Drawing (CAD) viewer.

Only those firms which meet the following qualifications will be considered for selection:

  • Licensed to practice as an (Architect, Engineer, or Landscape Architect) in the State of Illinois.
  • Prequalified with the State of Illinois Capital Development Board.
  • Registered and authorized to do business in the State of Illinois.
  • Utilization of AutoCAD compatible System.

The following project-related criteria will be used to evaluate the firms requesting consideration for selection:
  • Commitment of the firm, proposed staff and consultants to the project.
  • Prior experience of the proposed project staff in the design and construction of similar projects.
  • Overall design quality of the relevant projects submitted.
  • MAFBE participation of Professional Service Consultant and sub-consultants.
  • Experience in plannin gand designing state-of-the-art classroom, teaching and learning environments.
  • Experience in planning and designing LEED Silver Certified educational facilities.

The Professional Services Consultant selection will be consistent with the Architectual, Engineering, and Land Surveying Qualifications Based Selection Act (30 ILCS 535/1).
