PUBLIC NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION RELATED PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois hereby requests qualifications from professional services consultants to provide professional services in connection with the following project:
Project Name: Armory - Limited Renovation of Restrooms, Windows, Doors and Floors
Description of Project: THE VFA REPORT IDENTIFIES DEFICIENCIES IN THE RESTROOMS, WINDOWS, EXTERIOR DOORS AND ENTRY FLOOR AREAS. ; THIS PROJECT WILL REPLACE THE NE, NW, SE, SW DOOR ASSEMBLIES WITH NEW GLASS DOORS WHILE MAKING THE ENTRYWAYS ADA ACCESSIBLE AND MAINTAINING THE ARCHITECTURAL INTEGRITY OF THE EXISTING ENTRIES. ; ADDITIONALLY, THE FIRST/SECOND FLOOR WINDOW ASSEMBLIES ON THE EAST ELEVATION OF THE ARMORY WILL BE REPLACED WITH THERMALLY SEALED, VINYL WRAPPED WINDOWS; THE CURRENT ONES ARE SINGLE PANE AND IN POOR CONDITION. THE WINDOWS WITH A/C UNITS WILL NOT BE REPLACED. ; THE FLOORING IN THE NORTHWEST AND SOUTHWEST ENTRYWAYS WILL BE REMEDIATED AND REPLACED WITH PERMACOLOR QUARTZ FLOOR COATING. ; RESTROOMS EXHIBIT SEVERE SIGNS OF WEAR AND TEAR AND HAVE FIXTURES OPERATING BEYOND THEIR USEFUL LIFE. THROUGHOUT THE BUILDING, ALL PLUMBING FIXTURES BEYOND THEIR USEFUL LIFE WILL BE REPLACED AND RESTROOMS WILL BE PAINTED. THE FOUR PUBLIC RESTROOMS ON THE FIRST FLOOR (ROOMS 105, 127, 142, AND 158) WILL RECEIVE FURTHER RENOVATION: LIGHTING WILL BE ADDED, PARTITIONS AND ACCESSORIES WILL BE REPLACED OR ADDED AS NEEDED, TOILET EXHAUST WILL BE ADDED, BACKFLOW PREVENTION WILL BE ADDED, AND WHERE POSSIBLE, THE RESTROOMS WILL MADE ADA COMPLIANT. ; NEW ADA SINGLE-USER RESTROOMS WILL BE CREATED ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE ARMORY IN EXISTING ACCESSIBLE INTERIOR SPACE (ROOMS 156B,C); THE SEWER LINE WILL BE EXTENDED, WALLS MOVED, DOORWAYS CREATED ONTO THE MAIN CORRIDOR WHILE PRESERVING THE FINISHING AND ACCESS OF THE ADJACENT AREAS.

Note: The project will be administered using the Owner's web-based project management system. PRZM was developed to maximaize the potential of the Internet in allowing project team members to access and exchange project information. PRZM supports team colllaboration in management and interaction, as well as a team member empowerment on a multi-layer security system.

Minimum user requirements are as follows:

  • Internet Browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 or higher is recommended.
  • E-mail: PRZM requires the user to have a valid e-mail account.
  • Computer-Aided Drawing (CAD) viewer.

Only those firms which meet the following qualifications will be considered for selection:

  • Licensed to practice as an (Architect, Engineer, or Landscape Architect) in the State of Illinois.
  • Prequalified with the State of Illinois Capital Development Board.
  • Registered and authorized to do business in the State of Illinois.
  • Utilization of AutoCAD compatible System.

The following project-related criteria will be used to evaluate the firms requesting consideration for selection:
  • Current commitments of firm, proposed staff and consultants.
  • Prior experience of the proposed project staff in the design ande construction of similar projects.
  • Proven experience and familiarity with ADA codes and requirements.
  • Prior experience with exterior renovation design in historical facilities.
  • Prior experience with restroom remodels in older facilities.
  • Overall design quality of the relevant projects submitted.
  • MAFBE participation of Professional Service COnsultant and sub-consultants.
