PUBLIC NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION RELATED PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois hereby requests qualifications from professional services consultants to provide professional services in connection with the following project:
Project Name: Illinois Fire Service Institute Learning Resource & Research Center
Description of Project: A 24,000 SF Learning Resource and Research Center addition to the existing Illinois Fire Service Institute (IFSI) Class/ Office building to include utility infrastructure upgrades to connect the IFSI facility to the campus fiber optic communications and electrical power distribution systems.

Project Budget: $7,972,800.00Construction Budget: $5,045,000.00

Note: The project will be administered using the Owner's web-based project management system. PRZM was developed to maximaize the potential of the Internet in allowing project team members to access and exchange project information. PRZM supports team colllaboration in management and interaction, as well as a team member empowerment on a multi-layer security system.

Minimum user requirements are as follows:

  • Internet Browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 or higher is recommended.
  • E-mail: PRZM requires the user to have a valid e-mail account.
  • Computer-Aided Drawing (CAD) viewer.

Only those firms which meet the following qualifications will be considered for selection:

  • Licensed to practice as an (Architect, Engineer, or Landscape Architect) in the State of Illinois.
  • Prequalified with the State of Illinois Capital Development Board.
  • Registered and authorized to do business in the State of Illinois.
  • Utilization of AutoCAD compatible System.

The following project-related criteria will be used to evaluate the firms requesting consideration for selection:
  • Current commitments of firm, proposed staff and consultants.
  • Overall design quality of the relevant projects submitted.
  • Prior experience with projects at the University level.
  • Experience of the proposed project team in the design and construction of similar projects showing a strong collaborative, working relationship with the client.
  • Experience in design of highly functional, multi-use training, education, information and research facilities.
  • Expertise in design and construction of facilities for public safety and multi-disciplinary command centers for operations and training.
  • Experience in design and construction of research labs for human subject and fire-related research.
  • Experience in design of international simultaneous translation-capable classroom/conference facilities.
  • Experience with category 6 level information systems and radio communications for projects requiring both permanent and mobile power/data supply.
  • Experience creating innovative learning/library facilities and interactive memorial/museum space.
