PUBLIC NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION RELATED PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois hereby requests qualifications from professional services consultants to provide professional services in connection with the following project:
Project Name: Renovate 1st Floor & Modernize Fire Alarm and Sprinkler System at LHS
Description of Project: Remodel approx. 23,000 SF of Existing Library Stack/Study Space, Office Spaces, Conference Rooms, Office Services, on the First Floor of the Library of Health Science (942) Building. New spaces to include a reconfigured Study Space, 3 to 4 Lecture/Meeting Spaces, Staff Offices, relocated Reference/Service Desk, Vending/Coffee Area and Technical Services/ILL/Access Service Staff Areas. Modernize the building’s fire alarm system (including interconnecting the building’s ventilation system with the fire alarm) and install a new fire sprinkler system throughout the entire building (3 floors plus basement and penthouse).

Note: The project will be administered using the Owner's web-based project management system. PRZM was developed to maximaize the potential of the Internet in allowing project team members to access and exchange project information. PRZM supports team colllaboration in management and interaction, as well as a team member empowerment on a multi-layer security system.

Minimum user requirements are as follows:

  • Internet Browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 or higher is recommended.
  • E-mail: PRZM requires the user to have a valid e-mail account.
  • Computer-Aided Drawing (CAD) viewer.

Only those firms which meet the following qualifications will be considered for selection:

  • Licensed to practice as an (Architect, Engineer, or Landscape Architect) in the State of Illinois.
  • Prequalified with the State of Illinois Capital Development Board.
  • Registered and authorized to do business in the State of Illinois.
  • Utilization of AutoCAD compatible System.

The following project-related criteria will be used to evaluate the firms requesting consideration for selection:
  • Current commitments of the firm, proposed staff and consultants.
  • Prior experience of the proposed project staff in the design and construction of similar projects.
  • Overall design quality of relevant projects submitted.
  • MAFBE participation of Professional Service Consultant and sub-consultants with a goal of 20%. Illinois Department of Central Management Services (CMS) Business Enterprise Program certification is the basis for determination of MAFBE status.
  • Prior experience of the proposed team in the design and construction administration of library renovation projects.
  • Prior experience of the proposed team in the design and construction administration of retrofit fire alarm and fire suppression systems for libraries.
  • Demonstrated experience with library furniture systems and multi-media meeting rooms.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate renovation projects involving multiple phases in occupied buildings.
