PUBLIC NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION RELATED PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois hereby requests qualifications from professional services consultants to provide professional services in connection with the following project:
Project Name: 924-C12005 Design Two Classrooms for Distance Learning Center in Pharmacy
Description of Project: Lecture Rooms B32 and B36 will be upgraded for high quality audio and video presentations as part of; the College of Pharmacy Distance Learning initiative. These rooms will be used as a part of the; Distance Learning that connect the Rockford Pharmacy classes to the Chicago classes. The complete; audio/video system will be designed by Cites Group in Urbana (University Consultant) with the; assistance of Waveguide Consultants in Atlanta. This advertisement is for a Master Architectural; Engineering (Master AE) firm that will coordinate all aspects of the project. The Master AE will hire; acoustical consultants and lighting designers to implement the designs provided by the University; Consultant. Interior acoustical wall and ceiling treatments will be included, in addition to new color; schemes for each Lecture Hall. Existing seating will remain. New carpet will be installed in each; Lecture Hall.

Note: The project will be administered using the Owner's web-based project management system. PRZM was developed to maximaize the potential of the Internet in allowing project team members to access and exchange project information. PRZM supports team colllaboration in management and interaction, as well as a team member empowerment on a multi-layer security system.

Minimum user requirements are as follows:

  • Internet Browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 or higher is recommended.
  • E-mail: PRZM requires the user to have a valid e-mail account.
  • Computer-Aided Drawing (CAD) viewer.

Only those firms which meet the following qualifications will be considered for selection:

  • Licensed to practice as an (Architect, Engineer, or Landscape Architect) in the State of Illinois.
  • Prequalified with the State of Illinois Capital Development Board.
  • Registered and authorized to do business in the State of Illinois.
  • Utilization of AutoCAD compatible System.

The following project-related criteria will be used to evaluate the firms requesting consideration for selection:
  • Current commitments of firm, proposed staff and consultants.
  • Prior experience of the proposed project staff in the design and construction of similar projects.
  • Overall design quality of the relevant projects submitted.
  • MAFBE participation of Professional Services Consultatn and sub-consultatnts with a goal of 20%. Illinois Department of Central management Services (CMS) Business Enterprise Program certification is the basi of MAFBE status.
  • The Master A/Eand its Consultant shall have experience designing for the installation and use of integrated videoconference systems in a University classroom setting.
  • The Master A/E and its Consultant will be required to meet the University's consultant's design criteria, having designed and overseen similarly complex distance learning projects.
  • The Master A/E and its Consultant shall provide demonstrated experience in the design and detailing of distance learning classrooms utilizing suspended microphones for audience participation.
  • The Master A/E and its Consultant shall demonstrate experience in solving the problems created by ventilation noise interference with suspended microphones.
  • The Master A/E and its Consultant shall have demonstrated experience designing A/V and Lighting control systems.
  • The Master A/E and its Consultant shall have proven experience designing and detailing retro-fit installations for high scale video transmission.
