PUBLIC NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION RELATED PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois hereby requests qualifications from professional services consultants to provide professional services in connection with the following project:
Project Name: Digital Computing Laboratory - Bioengineering Lab Remodel Phase 2
Description of Project: PHASE 2 OF A 5-PHASE PROJECT; BIO-ENGINEERING PHASE II CONSISTS OF REMODELING 3,330 SF ON THE FIRST FLOOR OF THE 1991 ADDITION TO THE DIGITAL COMPUTING LAB LOCATED AT 1304 W. SPRINGFIELD AVE. IN URBANA (EXISTING ROOMS 1242, 1240, 1245, 1252, AND 1251). THIS PROJECT WILL PROVIDE FOUR WET LABS WITH 400 LINEAR FEET OF LAB BENCH, 4 SOLVENT FUME HOODS, 4 BIO-SAFETY CABINETS AND A CHEMICAL WASTE STORAGE ROOM. UPDATED SCOPE INCLUDES REMODELING OF ROOM 1240A TO BECOME A MICROBIAL BACTERIAL ROOM, AND ADDITION OF A DARK RM AND COLD RM. TO BE ADDED TO ROOM 1070.

Note: The project will be administered using the Owner's web-based project management system. PRZM was developed to maximaize the potential of the Internet in allowing project team members to access and exchange project information. PRZM supports team colllaboration in management and interaction, as well as a team member empowerment on a multi-layer security system.

Minimum user requirements are as follows:

  • Internet Browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 or higher is recommended.
  • E-mail: PRZM requires the user to have a valid e-mail account.
  • Computer-Aided Drawing (CAD) viewer.

Only those firms which meet the following qualifications will be considered for selection:

  • Licensed to practice as an (Architect, Engineer, or Landscape Architect) in the State of Illinois.
  • Prequalified with the State of Illinois Capital Development Board.
  • Registered and authorized to do business in the State of Illinois.
  • Utilization of AutoCAD compatible System.

The following project-related criteria will be used to evaluate the firms requesting consideration for selection:
  • Current commitments of firm, proposed staff and consultants.
  • Current commitments of firm, proposed staff and consultants.
  • Overall design quality of the relevant projects submitted.
  • MAFBE participation of Professional Service Consultant and sub-consultants with a goal of 20%. Illinois Department of Central Management Services (CMS) Business Enterprise Program certification is the basis for determination of MAFBE status.
  • Cumulative quality and expertise of the proposed team of individuals and consultants.
  • Expertise and success in construction cost estimating.
  • Expertise and success in projects constructed in occupied and operating
    educational/research facilities.
  • Successful experience gaining consensus while engaging a multitude of stakeholders.
  • Prior experience with projects of similar scope and magnitude at the university level.
