PUBLIC NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION RELATED PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois hereby requests qualifications from professional services consultants to provide professional services in connection with the following project:
Project Name: Main Library - Phase 2 B of the Redevelopment Plan (CDB)
Description of Project: THIS PROJECT WILL ADDRESS MULTIPLE DEFICIENCIES ASSOCIATED WITH THE EXTERIOR OF THE ORIGINAL CHARLES PLATT PORTION OF THE LIBRARY BUILDING. THE PROJECT WILL INCLUDE MASONRY TUCKPOINTING AND REPAIRS AT PARAPET WALLS, WINDOW OPENINGS AND WALL SURFACES IN THE SMALL COURTYARDS. STEEL REINFORCING WILL BE ADDED TO EXISTING BRICK MASONRY CHIMNEYS AND STAINED AREAS OF BRICK AND STONE WILL BE CLEANED. ROOF REPAIR WORK WILL INCLUDE REPAIR AND PARTIAL REPLACEMENT OF EXISTING SLATE AND SHINGLE ROOFING AS WELL AS REPAIR, REPLACEMENT AND PROTECTION OF EXISTING MEMBRANE ROOFING. SHEET METAL FLASHING AT BRICK MASONRY CHIMNEYS AND AT DORMER PROJECTIONS WILL BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED. SHEET METAL RIDGE CAP, HIP CAP AND VALLEY FLASHINGS WILL BE REPLACED. EXISTING UNDERGROUND STORM PIPING SERVING THE BUILDING WILL NEED TO BE EVALUATED AND REPAIRED OR CLEARED AS NECESSARY. OVERALL THIS PROJECT WILL HAVE AN IMPACT ON THE BUILDING INTEGRITY AND APPEARANCE.

Project Budget: $2,135,000.00Construction Budget: $1,757,461.00

Note: The project will be administered using the Owner's web-based project management system. PRZM was developed to maximaize the potential of the Internet in allowing project team members to access and exchange project information. PRZM supports team colllaboration in management and interaction, as well as a team member empowerment on a multi-layer security system.

Minimum user requirements are as follows:

  • Internet Browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 or higher is recommended.
  • E-mail: PRZM requires the user to have a valid e-mail account.
  • Computer-Aided Drawing (CAD) viewer.

Only those firms which meet the following qualifications will be considered for selection:

  • Licensed to practice as an (Architect, Engineer, or Landscape Architect) in the State of Illinois.
  • Prequalified with the State of Illinois Capital Development Board.
  • Registered and authorized to do business in the State of Illinois.
  • Utilization of AutoCAD compatible System.

The following project-related criteria will be used to evaluate the firms requesting consideration for selection:
  • Current commitments of firm, proposed staff and consultants.
  • Prior experience of the proposed project staff in the design and construction of similar projects.
  • Overall design quality of the relevant projects submitted.
  • MAFBE participation of Professional Service Consultant and sub-consultants with a goal of 20%. Illinois Department of Central Management Services (CMS) Business EnterpriseProgram certification is the basis for determination of MAFBE status.
  • Prior experience with renovation projects that involve historically significant structures and sites.
  • Expertise in scheduling renovation projects in occupied buildings.
  • Expertise and success in construction cost estimating.
