PUBLIC NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION RELATED PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois hereby requests qualifications from professional services consultants to provide professional services in connection with the following project:
Project Name: English Building - Courtyard Roof Replacement and Chilled Water Connection
Description of Project: CENTRAL TO THE PROJECT IS THE INSTALLATION OF A CONNECTION TO THE CAMPUS CHILLED WATER SYSTEM ALLOWING THE MAJOR PORTION OF THE BUILDING'S COOLING TO BE PROVIDED BY THE MORE ECONOMICAL CHILLED WATER COOLING SYSTEM. THE CONNECTION OF THE BUILDING’S HEAT PUMP SYSTEM TO THE CHILLED WATER SOURCE WILL ALLOW FOR THE DEMOLITION AND REMOVAL OF A MAJOR COOLING TOWER CURRENTLY LOCATED ON A ROOFTOP OF THE CENTRAL COURTYARD. THE BUILDING’S PRIMARY MAKE UP AIR UNIT LOCATED IN ROOM 142 WILL ALSO BE CONNECTED TO THE CHILLED WATER. WITH THE REMOVAL OF THE COOLING TOWER AND THE RELOCATION OF SEVERAL SMALL, REMAINING ROOFTOP CONDENSING UNITS, THE ENTIRE COURTYARD ROOFING SYSTEM IS AVAILABLE FOR REPAIRS AND REROOFING. A NEW ROOFING SYSTEM WITH REPLACEMENT OF AN EXISTING SKYLIGHT IS PROPOSED. COORDINATED WITH THIS WORK WILL BE TUCK POINTING REPAIRS TO EXISTING COURTYARD WALLS AND REPLACEMENT OF ALL COURTYARD WINDOW UNITS WHICH REMAIN FOLLOWING RECENT WINDOW REPLACEMENT PROJECTS. FOLLOWING THE COMPLETION OF THE REROOFING PROJECT, INTERIOR CEILINGS AND PARTITIONS DAMAGED BY ROOF LEAKS WILL BE REPAIRED AND/OR REPLACED. COORDINATED WITH THIS CEILING REPAIR WORK WILL BE THIS INSTALLATION OF NEW CLASSROOM AV TECHNOLOGY IN 7 CLASSROOMS.

Note: The project will be administered using the Owner's web-based project management system. PRZM was developed to maximaize the potential of the Internet in allowing project team members to access and exchange project information. PRZM supports team colllaboration in management and interaction, as well as a team member empowerment on a multi-layer security system.

Minimum user requirements are as follows:

  • Internet Browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 or higher is recommended.
  • E-mail: PRZM requires the user to have a valid e-mail account.
  • Computer-Aided Drawing (CAD) viewer.

Only those firms which meet the following qualifications will be considered for selection:

  • Licensed to practice as an (Architect, Engineer, or Landscape Architect) in the State of Illinois.
  • Prequalified with the State of Illinois Capital Development Board.
  • Registered and authorized to do business in the State of Illinois.
  • Utilization of AutoCAD compatible System.

The following project-related criteria will be used to evaluate the firms requesting consideration for selection:
  • Current commitments of firm, proposed staff and consultants.
  • Prior experience of the proposed project staff in the design and construction of similar projects.
  • Overall design quality of the relevant projects submitted.
  • MAFBE participation of Professional Service Consultant and sub-consultants with a goal of 20%. Illinois Department of Central Management Services (CMS) Business Enterprise Program certification is the basis for determination of MAFBE status.
  • Experience and expertise in successful projects of similar occupancy and type in fully occupied buildings.
  • Experience and expertise in successful construction cost estimating.
  • Experience with A/V design for classrooms.
