PUBLIC NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION RELATED PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois hereby requests qualifications from professional services consultants to provide professional services in connection with the following project:
Project Name: Ikenberry Commons Phase E & G - Residence Hall No. 2 and Forbes Hall Demolition
Description of Project: THE INTENT OF PHASE E, CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW RESIDENCE HALL NO.2 ON IKENBERRY COMMONS, IS TO OFFER MORE SPACE AND PRIVACY TO RETURNING SECOND YEAR AND UPPER CLASS STUDENTS. THIS NEW LEED SILVER BUILDING, WHICH WOULD OFFER APPROXIMATELY 450 SUITES OR SEMI-SUITES CONFIGURED ROOMS WITH PRIVATE BATHROOM OPTIONS, FLOOR LOUNGES, PUBLIC MEETING SPACES, PROFESSIONAL STAFF APARTMENTS, LAUNDRY AND MAILROOM FACILITIES, AND APPROPRIATE STORAGE AND STAFF OFFICES WOULD NEED TO BE AT LEAST A 180,000 S.F. BUILDING. THE EXTERIOR DESIGN OF THIS NEW RESIDENCE HALL IS TO REFLECT THAT OF PHASE A, RESIDENCE HALL, WITH SIMILAR PORPORTIONS OF BRICK, STONE TRIM AND GLAZING SCALED TO A FOUR OR FIVE STORY BUILDING. ALL SITE RELATED WORK SUCH AS UTILITES, STORM-WATER AND LANDSCAPING ARE INCLUDED IN THIS PROJECT. ; WITH DEVELOPMENT UNDERWAY IN THE NORTHEAST AND SOUTHWEST QUANDRANTS OF IKENBERRY COMMONS, HOUSING'S INTENT TO DEVELOP THE ENTIRE SITE IS REPRESENTED BY PREPARING TO BUILD NEW RESIDENCE HALLS IN THE NORTHWEST QUADRANT. THIS PHASE, PHASE G, DEMOLITION OF FORBES HALL, SETS THE GROUNDWORK FOR DEVELOPMENT OF THAT QUADRANT. THIS WILL BE THE SECOND BUILDING OF THE "SIX PACK" THAT IS BEING PLANNED FOR DEMOLITION, THE FIRST OF WHICH IS GARNER HALL. ; HOUSING WOULD LIKE TO THE PSC TO PLAN (CONCEPTUALIZATION), DESIGN, ADMINISTER AND DEVELOP BID DOCUMENTS. WITH PHASE G, THE FIRST PROJECT OUT OF SYNC WITH BOOTH HANSEN'S PHASING PLAN FOR IKENBERRY COMMONS, THE PSC WILL BE ASKED TO CONFIRM THE REMAINING PHASES OF WORK.

Note: The project will be administered using the Owner's web-based project management system. PRZM was developed to maximaize the potential of the Internet in allowing project team members to access and exchange project information. PRZM supports team colllaboration in management and interaction, as well as a team member empowerment on a multi-layer security system.

Minimum user requirements are as follows:

  • Internet Browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 or higher is recommended.
  • E-mail: PRZM requires the user to have a valid e-mail account.
  • Computer-Aided Drawing (CAD) viewer.

Only those firms which meet the following qualifications will be considered for selection:

  • Licensed to practice as an (Architect, Engineer, or Landscape Architect) in the State of Illinois.
  • Prequalified with the State of Illinois Capital Development Board.
  • Registered and authorized to do business in the State of Illinois.
  • Utilization of AutoCAD compatible System.

The following project-related criteria will be used to evaluate the firms requesting consideration for selection:
  • Current commitments of firm, proposed staff and consultants
  • Prior experience of the proposed project staff in the design and construction of similar projects.
  • Overall design quality of the relevant projects submitted.
  • MAFBE participation of Professional Service Consultant and sub-consultants.
  • Prior experience in design and construction of Residence Halls with LEED Silver Certification.
  • Prior experience in design and construction of learning, living centers.
  • Prior experience in developing concept development reports for similar projects.
