PUBLIC NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION RELATED PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois hereby requests qualifications from professional services consultants to provide professional services in connection with the following project:
Project Name: Altgeld Hall - Electrical Service Upgrade
Description of Project: ELECTRICAL MAIN SERVICE / EQUIPMENT ARE BEYOND USEFUL LIFE – PROVIDE NEW 12.47KV FEED FROM ILLINI UNION BOOKSTORE. REPLACE EXISTING ELECTRICAL SERVICE WITH A 500 KVA UNIT SUBSTATION. IN THE TRANSFORMER ROOM, REPLACE OBSOLETE PANEL BOARDS, CHECK FOR ADEQUATE VENTILATION, AND ROOM LIGHTING FIXTURES WITH FLUORESCENT FIXTURES (T-8 LAMPS). PREPARE AND POST ELECTRICAL LINE DIAGRAM INDICATING ELECTRICAL DISTRIBUTION THROUGHOUT BUILDING. THE REPLACEMENT OF THE GREGORY HALL FEED IS CONTINGENT ON THIS PROJECT’S COMPLETION. THIS PROJECT ADDRESSES A PRIORITY 3 VFA DEFICIENCY, WITH AN ESTIMATED COST OF $514,000.

Note: The project will be administered using the Owner's web-based project management system. PRZM was developed to maximaize the potential of the Internet in allowing project team members to access and exchange project information. PRZM supports team colllaboration in management and interaction, as well as a team member empowerment on a multi-layer security system.

Minimum user requirements are as follows:

  • Internet Browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 or higher is recommended.
  • E-mail: PRZM requires the user to have a valid e-mail account.
  • Computer-Aided Drawing (CAD) viewer.

Only those firms which meet the following qualifications will be considered for selection:

  • Licensed to practice as an (Architect, Engineer, or Landscape Architect) in the State of Illinois.
  • Prequalified with the State of Illinois Capital Development Board.
  • Registered and authorized to do business in the State of Illinois.
  • Utilization of AutoCAD compatible System.

The following project-related criteria will be used to evaluate the firms requesting consideration for selection:
  • Current commitments of firm, proposed staff and consultants at the University of Illinois.
  • Prior experience fo the proposed project staff in the design and construction of projects with similar scope, size and level of complexity.
  • Overall design quality of the relevant projects submitted.
  • Overall qualifications of the proposed team of individuals and consultants.
  • Prior experience at the University/ College level.
  • MAFBE Participation.
