PUBLIC NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION RELATED PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois hereby requests qualifications from professional services consultants to provide professional services in connection with the following project:
Project Name: Housing Life Safety Code 2000 - Sprinkler & Finish Work Upgrades at PAR - Phase I
Description of Project: THIS PROJECT IS THE FIRST OF TWO PHASES THAT WILL INVOLVE LIFE SAFETY WORK AND UPGRADES TO FINISHES AT PAR ON THE FIRST FLOOR OF THE LOUNGE BUILDING, BLAISDELL AND CARR RESIDENCE HALLS. UNIVERSITY HOUSING REQUESTS THAT A PSC BE HIRED TO DESIGN (PERMIT LEVEL), BID, AND ADMINISTER THE NECESSARY UPGRADES REQUIRED FOR THE SCOPE OF THIS PROJECT. ; LIFE SAFETY WORK INCLUDES PROVIDING A SPRINKLER SYSTEM IN THESE FACILITIES. ; UPGRADES TO FINISHES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: ; 1. REPLACE FLOORING IN THE CORRIDORS (ABATE THE VAT BY F&S), STAIRWELLS, ELEVATOR LOBBY AND LOUNGES IN BLAISDELL & CARR. ; 2. PAINT ALL STUDENT ROOMS AND CEILINGS. ; 3. REMOVE THE BOOKSHELVES, TACK BOARDS, AND MIRRORS IN ALL STUDENT ROOMS (2 PER ROOM). ; 4. PAINT THE CORRIDORS, STAIRWELLS, ELEVATOR LOBBY, AND LOUNGES ON BLAISDELL AND CARR RESIDENCE FLOORS. ; 5. REPLACE THE STUDENT ROOM DEADBOLTS WITH NEW BEST DEADBOLTS ON ALL BLAISDELL & CARR RESIDENCE FLOORS.

Note: The project will be administered using the Owner's web-based project management system. PRZM was developed to maximaize the potential of the Internet in allowing project team members to access and exchange project information. PRZM supports team colllaboration in management and interaction, as well as a team member empowerment on a multi-layer security system.

Minimum user requirements are as follows:

  • Internet Browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 or higher is recommended.
  • E-mail: PRZM requires the user to have a valid e-mail account.
  • Computer-Aided Drawing (CAD) viewer.

Only those firms which meet the following qualifications will be considered for selection:

  • Licensed to practice as an (Architect, Engineer, or Landscape Architect) in the State of Illinois.
  • Prequalified with the State of Illinois Capital Development Board.
  • Registered and authorized to do business in the State of Illinois.
  • Utilization of AutoCAD compatible System.

The following project-related criteria will be used to evaluate the firms requesting consideration for selection:
  • Current commitments of firm, proposed staff and consultants.
  • Prior experience of the proposed project staff in the design and construction of similar projects.
  • Overall design quality of the relevant projects submitted.

The Professional Services Consultant selection will be consistent with the Architectual, Engineering, and Land Surveying Qualifications Based Selection Act (30 ILCS 535/1).
